Tobolsk and the Tobolsk region sent 23 thousand sons and daughters to the front. More than 9000 people died defending their homeland. In memory of them, the Eternal Flame burns on Victory Square and a 15-meter stele with the Order of Victory and a wedge of cranes rushing upward rises, gleaming in the sun. The marble slabs of the Memorial bear 1196 names of Tobolsk citizens who gave their lives for the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The authors of the project of the memorial, opened in 1987, are the Tobolsk architects I.G. Rossoshik and B.A. Fershtater.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, enhancing the solemn sound of Victory Square, commemorative plaques were placed in a row, telling about the exploits of the Tobolyaks – heroes of the Soviet Union: Ivan Bespalov, Alexander Zvyagin Afrikant Erofeevsky, Grigory Koshkarov, Alexander Logunov, Alexey Melnikov, Yakov Neumoyev , Alexei Rogozhin, Timofei Charkov and full holder of the Order of Glory Alexander Kutepov.

The new monument “Tobolyakov Immortal Regiment” became a powerful chord in the ensemble of the square. The defenders of the Fatherland, their teachers and mothers, their children and grandchildren stood shoulder to shoulder. In their dialogue, we hear a story about the fate of the battle and the trials of the war years.

Continues the memorial ensemble “Wall of People’s Memory”, which contains more than three thousand photographs of front-line soldiers and home front workers.

The authors of the monument “Tobolyakov Immortal Regiment”, the steles of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Wall of People’s Memory are: Yekaterinburg artist, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia S.V. Titlinov and architect A.F. Medvedev.
