The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is one of the earliest churches of Nizhny Posad, preserved in the city of Tobolsk, which was built in 1745 -1759. It is also one of the most spectacular churches in Tobolsk. A characteristic element of the composition of the temple is its high external staircase on the arcades leading to the second floor.

A special attraction of the church is given by its wrought iron grating with the monogram “M. A.” (Michael the Archangel).

The parishioners of this church were the family of the famous author of the fairy tale “The Humpbacked Horse” P. P. Yershov (1839 to 1844), the family of the great Russian scientist D. I. Mendeleev (from 1839 to 1849).

Currently, the church is active.
