The walls of the Tobolsk Kremlin, 620 meters long, were built in 10 years. A gallery 1 meter wide runs along the entire wall, supported by massive arched supports. In the openings of the arches, holes are made for fighting. The battle battlements of the walls of the Tobolsk Kremlin are made in the form of a dovetail. Each of the seven Kremlin towers has its own name.

The round Peacock tower was built in the 17th century by G. Sharypin. The tower’s low tent was previously crowned with the image of an unknown bird. Apparently, this figurine gave rise to the myth that the name of the tower is associated with an exotic peacock. According to another version, the tower is named after the Tobolsk Metropolitan Pavel.

The southwestern square pavilion was built in the 18th century. on the site of the Faceted Coal Tower, built by G. Sharypin.

The South Round and Orlovskaya Towers are identical in size and architecture. The towers are 17 meters high and the walls are 1 meter thick. Crowned with high eleven-sided tents, the towers are decorated with roller belts and gable trims of arched windows.

The southeast corner tower was completely rebuilt according to the project of F. Utkin by the contractor P. Savin in the 1790s. in the process of reconstruction of the entire southeastern section of the fortress fence.
