Near Tobolsk, in the vicinity of the largest petrochemical industrial complex, a unique ecological trail for Russia has recently appeared. The Ecological Trail is a joint project of SIBUR and the Tobolsk Integrated Scientific Station of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Tobolsk City Administration.

The ecotrop routes are located in urban forests 1.5 km north of the ZapSibNeftekhim construction site and the existing facilities of the SIBUR industrial site.

The ecological trail consists of three routes, with a total length of 4 km. The circular route “Petrochemistry and wildlife: ecology of the neighborhood” (length – 2.0 km), the main task of which is to show with the help of bioindicator species: lichens, mosses, vascular plants, some species of animals living on the ecotrope, the state of the environment in the immediate vicinity of the petrochemical complex. Ring route “Image of the Siberian taiga” (length-1.0 km). Tourists get acquainted with the variety of animal and plant species characteristic of the southern taiga subzone. Ring route “Pearls of the Tobolsk flora” (length-1.0 km). On this route, the focus is on rare and protected species included in the Red Book of the Tyumen region. In addition, information about medicinal, edible and poisonous plant and mushroom species is provided.

On the ecological trail, express tests are conducted for tourists for the presence of pollutants in the soil, water and atmospheric air. Chemical analyses are mostly carried out in the presence of visitors to the ecotrope.

Since 2019, the ecotrope has been hosting a “Cup of Tea” tour, the format of which involves getting acquainted with medicinal plants and tasting drinks made from medicinal Siberian herbs.
