Popov Alexander Vladimirovich (February 22, 1965, Tobolsk) – Soviet, Belarusian biathlete. He played for Dynamo (Sverdlovsk), since 1989 – for Minsk (Belarus).

Olympic champion in 1988 in the 4 × 7.5 km relay, silver medalist at the 1992 Olympics in the 4 × 7.5 km relay. Four-time world champion in the team race. Silver medalist of the World Cup (1989) overall. 1995 European champion in the relay.

USSR champion 1985 in the 10 km race, 1987 in the 25 km patrol race, 1986, 1988 in the relay. Winner of the Winter Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR 1986.

Graduated from the Sverdlovsk technical fire-technical school of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs (1985), the Tobolsk Pedagogical Institute named after I. DI. Mendeleev (1994).

In 1998-1999 – Head coach of the Belarusian youth biathlon team. In 1999-2007. – Head coach of the national biathlon team of Belarus. In 2007-2010 – Head coach of the men’s national biathlon team of Belarus. Since 2010 – senior coach of the Belarusian men’s national ski team.

The standard bearer of the Belarusian Olympic team at the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin.
